I use them for tobacco tins. They work well so I can split the dose between them and a larger jar and then consume from that jar to keep the larger jar fresh. I found the best way to warm them up in the sun or in a warm water bath before filling and sealing. You get air just like that and just like that. The only problem. IF THEY TAKE ENOUGH TO STAY FRESH I CANNOT OPEN THEM. They either leak and my expensive tobacco dries up, or they're so tight I can barely open them even with a tool, and I'm a 35-year-old male of above-average height and strength who makes a living by hand. I've never met a jar I couldn't open to tell those little suckers. I have over a hundred of these, at least a dozen, and I'm not quite sure how to open them. I have used tools and failed and all the people I know have tried to open them and they have failed. Luckily I'm not too worried as the content is supposed to be kept for 5 years, but I'll probably have to cut it up. One star deducted for that. Beware.
