Warning Contactor Replacement KFI Contactor

I purchased a KFI Contactor to replace a Warning Contactor with an Arctic Cat. 2 wires from KFI contactor that connect to winch switch wiring harness, 3rd wire is ground to KFI connector. As you can see in the photos below, my Arctic Cat had 3 wires. No problem for anyone who wants to replace a 3-wire contactor with a KFI contactor for less than half the price. On fig #1 you can see where I cut 3 wires. my Warn contactor so I can pair it with the KFI contactor and keep my original winch switch harness connector in case I need to replace my winch switch in the future - easy plug and play. In the 2nd picture I cut the ground wire from the wire harness. as as mentioned earlier this is not required as the KFI contactor is grounded to itself. I cut the KFI wire connectors and connected the wires together, soldered and shrunk as seen in fig. 3. It is best to use waterproof heat shrink tubing. If the winch pays off at the push of a button, you can fix this by either swapping green to black and blue to green, or swapping the yellow and gray wires on the motor connectors. Essentially I twisted the wires together and left the contactor hanging as shown in the photos. Then verify correct operation before soldering the wires. Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery after checking the correct operation, so as not to hurt the contractor during installation. One final note, the KFI mounting holes don't match the warning hole configuration, so I installed a screw to hold the contactor in place. mounting bracket and drill a new hole in the bracket through the other contactor mounting hole. Not sure how to tell if your contactor is faulty? If you don't hear an audible click each time you press and release the winch switch, you have a problem. First, make sure all of your connections are tight and free from corrosion. If you hear an audible click on both the inlet and outlet, the contactor is working and you have a problem with the winch. No audible click - Test the switch by disconnecting or reversing the test lead with a voltmeter and verifying that there is 12V DC on both wires while the button and switch are toggled on and off. If there is voltage, the switch and wiring harness are OK. To check the motor, you can find a video with connection cables on Youtube. Saved about $50 using KFI shooters instead of Warn.
