Review on Enhanced Bad Elf 2200 GPS Pro - Black/Silver by George Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

All in all a fun gadget to record your travels!

Cool product! We hung it on the rearview mirror of our car and used it to track our journey to and from Alaska. We installed the software on our iPads to store and view all of our daily travel cards. Your route appears as a red and purple line on the background map, but you can choose a street map background, a satellite view of the area, or a combination of both, which I particularly like. Haven't used it on the plane yet. The only time it did NOT record was when I put it in "Auto" mode but then used it on a day hike - I think it was dropping position points at low speed. So make sure you choose the settings that suit your usage. We used walk or bike settings for the orientation tour and it worked really well. I have also found that the position point every second compared to every 10 seconds makes a big difference in the size of the recorded files at the end of a day's riding. So consider setting this to the least frequent interval that suits your purpose. We left the files on Bad Elf and also copied them to our iPads to have backups. However, I also suggest accessing Bad Elf with only 1 iPad at a time, as we once managed to lock our iPads when playing the same file at the same time - that's bad! The battery life was at least 8-10 hours since our daily commutes were so long, but when I forgot to charge it one night I thought it was dead in the middle of the next day - my fault again!

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • No machine

I've been eyeing Bad Elf 2200 Black Silver for a long time.
