The great thing about these bits is that they are very aggressive and cut fast. The bad thing is that they are very aggressive and if something goes wrong these 3 spurs will attach themselves to the cutting flutes, stop the drill immediately and your drill will try to rip off your hand. After spending some time drilling through joists with the 1 1/8 bit, where I often hold the bit at odd angles, I went back to the spade bit. It's not that fast, but I didn't have to worry about breaking my arm.
