Now we love this goal! It was installed incorrectly at first (neither by my husband nor by me). We had to push it down to lock it in place and it was difficult to open. We removed it, contacted the company for replacement parts and followed the instructions on how to install it. Installation was very easy, but we still had to click to close. After investigating the issue, we found that the wall bracket that the latch sticks to needs to be mounted higher on the wall. It was only half an inch. We still attached the bracket to the latch and then attached it to the wall as instructed, but then made sure to slide the bracket all the way to the top of the latch. While one person holds the bracket, the other person unlocks the gate to ensure there is enough room to open the gate, then closes it to ensure it latches by itself. Once we knew we had the right height, we attached the bracket to the wall. Now it opens and closes smoothly and is much safer! It was so easy to determine that the husband wanted someone else. We both read instructions and watched videos. If it mentioned creating a side to raise the strut high enough, we both missed it. If it's too low, it can be opened by pressing one lever at a time and then raising it without pressing either lever. I was very afraid that my child would understand or that someone would forget to squeeze him to snap.
