DOING BUSINESS

This product was ordered for a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire with an Ecotec 2.2 liter engine and arrived on time I believe in Lagos Nigeria. It arrived in excellent condition and the quality appears to be top notch. It probably took longer than expected to install this part on the above car. Let me mention a thing or two that might help someone else: 1. With this Pontiac Sunfire, after reading about other people's experiences, I thought I might have to jack the car up, slide it under and disconnect the shift cable from the side engine . FACT: The cable must be disconnected inside the cabin. Disconnect the end that connects to the shifter inside the engine, then get in the car to do the rest of the work (don't worry about jacking up the car or practicing your acrobatics skills underneath). You may need to remove the passenger seat with a 13mm wrench/head to remove the bolt. Lift the carpet by loosening the trim around the center console with the torx wrench (you'll notice if you need to lift the carpet); Then unclip the air conditioning duct under the carpet that serves the rear passengers. Once that's done, all that remains is to remove the cable from the shifter, then thread it into the cab and you're done. Attach the end of the derailleur to install, then route the rest of the cable through the hood. into the engine; Now go to the engine and slide the other end over the shifter. I made this work with the park position, but I've read that you can achieve this in neutral. Hope that helps.
