Review on Ubiquiti Networks Unifi UAP-AC-PRO-US 802.11ac Dual-Radio PRO Access Point - Single, White by Chris Burks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Incredible range and options

After a year the TP-Link router stopped detecting wired connections and allowing connections via WiFi, I started looking for something better. After reading reviews of Nighthawks and other pointless routers ranging from $3 to $700 (and crashing frequently) for the serious bandwidth budget, I found the Unifi. Now of course there are options you need to tweak to improve this, but I wouldn't rule out that this is for the average home user. What sets this apart from the average plug and play home user is that you need to read and follow the instructions to get it working, not as many people like this concept in 2018. Highly recommend checking out the Youtube -Watch Battlenonsense video about Unifi router settings. This applies to the router that Unifi sells and to this access point, and it's very easy to follow. In about 15-20 minutes, it works better than any other Wi-Fi router. The best thing about this access point is the range. As many say, in a 3,000+ square foot house you have 5G speeds on your devices, ultimately allowing you to play any video game as if you had a direct wired connection to your computer. Mobile phones and other connected devices have the full speed of my router. Any additional tweaks you may need, I highly recommend googling what you think/need and you will find a solution.

Pros

Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models
