This is a good gauge but it has its drawbacks. The instrument is easy to use, well calibrated, small and easy to carry. It only has two calibration standards, 0 and 100 NTU. Although most of the samples I collect fall within this range, I have one random sample that registers over 100. Hach and other expensive brands have multiple standards, up to 800 or 1000 NTU. The lack of standards limiting calibration calls into question the validity of the data. I also haven't seen any info on the expiration dates of the standard or buying a replacement.
