Purchased when my USB cable wasn't long enough and I needed to connect another USB cable. It's a "female" connector, meaning you plug a USB-A cable (which has a "male" connector) into one end and another USB-A cable into the other. voila! You now have a longer USB cable, which saves you having to buy a longer cable (but you certainly have the right to if you want to). It does exactly what it's supposed to do.
