These short straws are great for jars, double old fashioned jars or mason jars. The included cleaning brush is the right size to clean the inside of the straws. They include an extra rubber tip, and I'm not entirely sure if it's intended to soften the lip tip (which is nice but not essential) or to keep the bottom mold from making noise on the glass. When used in the second way, it can catch bits of ice and interfere with its use as a straw. The rubber tip is fully removable so the straw works well with or without it. I don't think I've ever been able to write so many words through a straw in my life. I would also like to get an award for not joking about "that sucks".
