Review on πŸ”΄ Heatsinks 2280mm Reversible Cooling Design – Red by Matt Conner

Great performance for the price.

I'm shocked at how well this works for me. I have a Samsung 970 EVO Plus. In my original build I used an m.2 motherboard heatsink but due to some build changes I was unable to reinstall it. I was very skeptical about the "sandwich" model this heatsink uses, but there aren't many different m.2 heatsinks/waterblocks on the aftermarket right now, so I figured for the price it couldn't hurt to have one Attempt. without cooler. I was able to get my m.2 to 61 degrees C very easily by running a simple read/write test for about 75 seconds, after which I turned the test off. When I turned it off, it was still going up a degree every 2-3 seconds. After installing this heatsink, I let the drive warm up to normal operating temperature (about 43Β°C before and about 40-41Β°C after in my case) and ran the same test as before. This time around, even after running the full test twice (about 3 minutes), it was still only at 48C and seemed to be staying pretty constant there. I also didn't remove the product sticker from the SSD, which would probably give me even slightly better heat transfer. Installation was pretty easy. I wish there was some sort of alignment notch to ensure the m.2 drive is properly centered in the heatsink, but it was easy enough to check and reposition if necessary. Having seen others mention the need to purchase thinner thermal pads, I don't know if thermal pads have changed or not, but I've had no issues with the ones that come with the heatsink.
