What were you thinking? Have you tested this anvil mic arm instead of a regular mic? The springs that balance the hand's position are SO INCREDIBLY STRONG that I am physically unable to tighten the struts to create enough friction to create a stable neutral configuration that holds the mic in place . I've tightened it beyond what I thought possible without breaking the damn thing and the cantilever is still stretching and rising. I just can't turn the knobs tight enough to keep the mic where I want it. Btw I'm using an MXL 770 which I think is pretty heavy to start with. It's just absurd. I mean seriously, what were they thinking when they designed this thing. The ease of use is absolute rubbish and my fingers really hurt and throb after trying to balance this stem enough to keep the mic where I want it to be. I am extremely disappointed. One more thing. the point where the microphone attaches to the boom. Once you've tightened it, you won't be able to freely rotate the mic on its axis! There is a locking nut that tightens on your mic to hold it in place and once that's done it's impossible to adjust. So if your mic is a bit off and needs to be realigned, you should loosen it completely and try again. It takes trial and error to get the mic straight up and down. And once you've tightened it, there's no way you can easily stretch it out and adjust without loosening it again. I mean right? $100 and that's what we get? No thank you. I can't return this item fast enough. This is absolute rubbish and I can't understand how anyone could rate it so highly. The only good thing about it is the optics. And I suggest that this is more a reflection of our society than the functionality and utility of the item.
