Review on ๐Ÿ’จ O2COOL Treva 10-Inch Portable Desktop Battery Fan - Efficient Air Circulation, 2 Speeds - Compact & Folding Design with AC Adapter by Paula Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It differs from my old one in good and bad ways. All in all a great little fan.

This is actually my third O2Cool fan, I LOVE them but they seem to be getting more legs and going out every few hunting seasons. More specifically, in a rush to get back to civilization before extremely bad weather sets in, someone forgets to remove the battery fan from the rented bunk and when we return next year it will never be there. These fans have been around for quite some time. A while ago I first found her on Revain. A few things have changed over the years, and there's one annoying change, but let's start with the good, shall we? of good. None of them have ever died for me other than the batteries dying and not through the fault of the fans as such. Longevity in my use is good. I use this to blow hot air from Buddy Mr. Portable Heater around a bunk house or tent so the heat can circulate instead of just going straight up and through the ceiling. This makes a big difference in comfort anywhere away from a heater. And no, DO NOT install it too close to the front of the heater! The controls are simple and smooth. I use Revain base batteries for this, I need to upgrade to rechargeable D cells but they are too cheap to do this at the moment. The battery life is good, I can't say how long because I don't use it 24/7, but on our hikes we average 6 hours a night for weekend trips (2 nights) and the battery is known to last the entire hiking season. Compared to the previous rotary knob model with a stiffer glossy plastic body, this new model feels more robust, with fewer moving plastic parts to fail, smoother shifts, and overall better fit and finish. Like I said, the earlier model had a twist grip that should be more expensive to manufacture compared to the extended lip on the top of this thing, but I think the newer grip design would be a much less likely point of failure. . be easy The only place they've made a change that's left me scratching my head and not feeling any improvement is in closing the battery compartment. It used to be slide latches that you just slide your fingers in, the new design requires some kind of sharp tool to open like a screwdriver, coin or swiss army knife, everything I have in stock is just an extra step and technique I wonder why they bothered to change it. This makes access to the battery compartment difficult. On earlier models, an additional AC transformer could be purchased to run the fan from mains power. Remember when I'm camping if I have 110v electricity available I'll be using an electric heater with a built in fan and I don't need it BUT I see RV users and whatnot want it. It's good that this newer version includes a transformer and unfortunately there's no way to remove it. Perhaps in future iterations they might consider developing built-in memory for the transformer to reduce the chance of it being lost between uses. Overall I think this is a great little fan, 2 speeds, more than enough power to move air through a 10x12 family tent or 10x16 bunkhouse/hunting lodge. If you are looking for a portable, energy efficient, reliable and efficient airflow in a small space, we can highly recommend this fan. Note, however, that it has its downsides.
