Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product, suitable for car polishes and waxes

I give this material a rather premature review. Mainly because HydroSilex did me a HUGE favor and sent me a 16 ounce bottle. This was due to Revain failing to heed the company's request to stop and refrain from any third party in the market and as a result sent me 2 x 16oz bottles of totally faulty product. I was upset, I was angry; All I wanted was to try this product and not pay for shipping. Luckily, HydroSilex has excellent staff who have listened to my requests. When Revain didn't fix their mistake, HydroSilex jumped on it and sent me a bottle. They realized how badly I wanted to try it. Finally my shiny 16oz bottle arrived a few weeks ago and I got to work. First I had to do a big color correction. I am the 2nd owner of my 2015 GTI and whoever had the car before me didn't take good care of the paintwork. Twists, scratches, whatever. After literally 12 hours of washing, clay, dewaxing and compounding I could say I was happy enough with the finish of my paint to apply Recharge. It goes without saying: there is only one practical application method. . This is the dry method. I wouldn't even attempt this wet method, although I imagine you could do it with less product overall, albeit with more Haze. Easy to use, you've all seen the video. It's easier than using aerosol wax. I've seen many people make the mistake of applying too much and then wiping it dry. The bottle specifically states that this should not be done. I followed the instructions verbatim and got great results. I applied the first coat, left the car overnight so it took at least 10-12 hours to get going. I applied the second layer a week after a short wash without water. The results were amazing. I want to clarify a few things because I was interested in it before buying it and didn't find many answers: First, it doesn't keep your car clean. It repels dirt as it flies off the wind more easily than it sticks to the paint, but dirt, dust and debris still get on the paint. Second, the hydrophobic properties for SiO2 sprays are almost unparalleled, making "water testing" a waste of time. This means you applied it correctly to undyed paint. Third, you still need to wash your car. This coating minimizes the appearance of dirt and debris, but does not eliminate it. So accept that you still need to wash regularly. Fourth, their silica soap is NOT ideal for use with a foam gun. It's probably good, or at least good in a foam gun, but not in a foam gun. It just doesn't produce enough foam. I can't say anything about durability yet. It's been a few weeks (3-5) since I applied the first coat and a week less than the second coat. During this time my car was washed 3-5 times. I don't see any noticeable reduction in transparency or gloss, and I can't yet tell how long I'll need another coat of paint. If I have to apply a coat every 2-3 months, I'm still satisfied. One last thing, if you want to get even, thorough coverage, you're going to use more than others say. I used 1/4 bottle per shift, trying to use as little as possible and making sure all surfaces get the same amount of product. But the investment was worth it and I have no regrets. Fantastic product.
