Like many homes, our living room didn't have overhead lighting and using floor or table lamps didn't help. After a long search I decided on these lamps. Inexpensive, well-made metal body and clips are not plastic like some, the ability to change color, easy installation, beautiful appearance, low power consumption, the flashlights themselves are thin, complete unit (no need to buy a glass, cover and Incandescent lamp separately), LEDs do not heat up, can come into contact with the insulation. Cons The template provided is useless as mentioned, it makes a hole too big. I made a 6" hole which gave me a nice clean fit. When the light goes out you can't just change the bulb. Will they keep going? time will tell. Easy installation depends on your knowledge and experience .my setup was to unplug the power from the existing wiring, throw the new switch wire and box in the wall for the dimmer and then turn the light on.Luckily I had access to the attic and at 68 I can still( straight) crawling there. They weren't any easier or more difficult to install than other modded cans. I tested all the lights and boxes to make sure each was working properly and didn't want any of them to fail after installation. I went too online and used the recessed lighting distance calculator, put in the length and width of the room, it shows how many lights you need for adequate lighting have to use. I'm not an electrician but have been working with electricians since I was young. I like them and would probably buy them again if needed. just my thoughts We wish you every success with the installation. ALOHA
