Review on 🔒 Werner AC78 Quickclick Stabilizer: Optimal Stability Solution for Elevated Safety by Kenny Noel

The scope of delivery includes the Werner multi-ladder MT1-22 (similar to MT-22), but only on the wider rungs at the end of the ladder and not push all the way through. There is a cotter pin on the underside of the stabilizer frame that can be used to hold it in place, but that's not enough. I made two modifications to mine. I shortened the arms and also narrowed the frame. I had to trim the arms to get to the problem area that wasn't wide enough for the regular width. I drilled several 9mm holes to switch between lengths using a 3/32 pilot and then a step drill (pictured). Shortening the frame allowed me to mount it on the straight, narrow portion of the stair, but it took hours to use an angle grinder and cut-off wheel to cut the frame to 1/4 inch from each side, smooth the edges, and clean. ... Aluminum shavings and shards were everywhere, although I tried to encase them. I was wearing a full Tyvek suit so I was fine. I don't really recommend narrowing the scope, it was too much work for too little benefit. I don't have a photo of the tapered frame, just a photo of the front with markings on where I cut. window or something. I think most stabilizers are like that, you shouldn't go beyond that. I have a Louisville stabilizer that I use on the top bar that rests on my shingles and I can use it to climb onto my roof. Louisville is safer for this because it doesn't block other steps like this. I wonder why I gave this 4 stars. This is a great product and on a regular Werner extension ladder it should certainly do what it says on the tin. I removed the star because there were tiny metal flakes/pins on the frame from the box, probably left over from drilling holes.
