Thirst for Air

I bought this knife after doing some research online about stainless steel and aluminum cutters. This nibbling tool was designed to be 16 gauge thick for steel and up to 10 gauge thick for aluminum. From what I've read, it's been estimated that wire cutters can go up to 18 gauge stainless steel, which we cut through with ease. Cutting 10 gauge aluminum is no problem either. We were surprised that the cutter was round rather than the more typical square head, as this can make a difference in detailed cutouts. We just cut holes and this tool worked well for that. My only concern is the amount of air needed for long cuts. Our compressor has a power of 4.5 HP, a pressure of 120 psi. inches and 30 gallon capacity, and it's easy to reload with this tool. It is obviously for industrial use and not for home use as once the pressure dropped from 125psi to 75psi the compressor could barely keep up. Once the pressure dropped to 75psi, cutting ability and speed dropped significantly, although the machine continued to cut both materials at that low pressure. I would recommend this cutter to anyone with a large (15hp+) supercharger.
