The first car battery I tried with this tester led me to believe it was dead or damaged. The tester looked at some strange and unfounded readings. 8856 cca for a 600 cca battery that is 5 years old and dead. It was a side carrier battery outside of the car and I eventually realized I might not be getting the best connections. I screwed some new and clean 3/8" x 16 screws into the battery and got good contact. After that the tester worked as expected. The battery then tested 92 CCA, 2% and 11.94 volts. A standard voltmeter shows 11.94 on volts It's a good tool just make sure you have a really good connection but it's just common sense this tester will let you tell if your batteries are good or bad.
