I bought this item with high hopes but ended up being very disappointed. I followed all the instructions to install it and got to the point where you turn it on and plug it in. When I did this I didn't get the expected white LEDs on the doorbell. I have another version that indicates the problem. When I wanted to see what the light bulbs mean, I read for the first time that I had a bad transformer. Big! So my first issue with this system is that it doesn't work with the transformers you already have in your house. You must have a special transformer on your doorbell. If you have something other than a modern home, you can test your transformer before buying this doorbell. Apparently there is not enough power for this element in a standard transformer. So I went and bought a transformer and replaced the old one. I measured the output power and confirmed that it delivers enough power. Camera connected and nothing! Now the camera was dead. Looks like the internal battery is dead. At least that's what the troubleshooting guide told me. It is recommended to leave it on for 13 minutes to charge the battery. But that didn't happen. The chamber never showed a sign of life again. It was just dead. So after getting the camera back, all I'm left with is a shiny new transformer on my doorbell. In today's world, people expect everything to just work. I don't want to eliminate anything. I just want to pocket it and walk away happy. I don't want to buy an additional item to make it work. I don't want to open the troubleshooting guide. I don't want to use a voltmeter to find out if my voltage is correct. Just make it work!
