They are very heavy and have worked excellently for compressing the springs on two different motorcycle shock absorbers; 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200 and 2007 Hayabusa. These springs have very little space between coils for clamps, but this tool did the job. I taped the contact points on the springs and they did not damage the surface of the new springs. They're a bit awkward to work with if you don't have anything to hold the damper itself. It is helpful to have two people attach and hold them until the spring is loaded. There isn't much clearance between the tool body and the clamps either, you have to keep in mind that the tool won't rub on your damper/spring. With care and patience they work great, they can handle the spring load with ease and the fine threads of the adjusters make them easy to turn in small increments. I don't expect another spring compression tool will ever be needed again.
