I tried a similar device from Midland. The Midland didn't last more than 8 hours on a charge, plus the range was very poor based on testing in my area. What I learned from the reviews on this Cobra is to try other batteries, so I ordered Duracell 2450mAh rechargeable batteries. What a huge difference in life expectancy! I also bought a plug-in charger that speeds up the charging process. It comes with a charging station that can hold two devices. I also read that you don't use chargers or cables that charge two devices at the same time. You can use any mini USB charging cable. Yesterday I walked about a half mile in my neighborhood (lots of houses and lots of trees) and put the device on low power and it worked like a champ. I was smiling from ear to ear, finally a walkie talkie that works really well. It's research and many features. A warning, no instructions were included. I had to email the company and they sent me a 13 page PDF which I printed out (big enough to read). I really don't like buying old equipment but at this price compared to other brands this thing is Rolls Royce in quality and performance. I would, but that's for sure again!
