My husband made cat shelves for our cats as we are going to have a puppy soon and he wanted them to have a way to get away from the dog when they did too gets a lot for her. He used simple, inexpensive "white wood" (pine and the like). Using this makes the wood glow and look beautiful! And there are no unpleasant odors, as with many other finishes. No need to wear a respirator, gloves or worry about animals, children or the elderly while applying it! We love it and it will be our main wood product from now on.
