This tool used to give good results removing pilot bearings from diesel trucks. The shop I currently work at didn't have this, so I bought mine. The jaws are usually released and retracted without pulling the bearing. The crossbar that pushes the jaws appears to open up from the bottom, where it needs to be tightened more to put more pressure on the puller's arms to make them fit snugly against the bearing. . I've tried tweaking it to make it work, but it still doesn't do the job I got it for. As a result, you will have to remove the flywheel and knock out the pilot bearing. A bit disappointed with the tool I received because I bought it based on years of using this particular tool that has never let me down. It looks like things are being done differently now. I removed 1 bearing from 3 different trucks I tried it on.
