*according to my husband* There are many solder extractors out there. The Aven hood is probably one of the best. What I like is the strong suction power, the clean design and the quality of the components. It seems to be quite durable. I like the aluminum case. It's durable yet lightweight. Plus, the barrel unscrews at both ends, so you can flip it over if you need to. I actually bought two of these to have on my desktop and in my toolbox. In terms of ease of use, I like the barrel diameter. The butt is easy to hold and the release button is conveniently placed. This puller appears to be made for big hands and you'll find yourself grabbing the plunger with your thumb. I find the outside of the barrel a bit slippery but I'm sure I'll get used to it or use some friction tape for better grip. BTW, it does an excellent job of removing solder from circuit boards! A good device at a good price that I would recommend.
