I'm not a professional mechanic but I can work and I work a lot with my machines. Despite all the bad reviews of Mishimoto hoses, I figured this inlet pipe would be a win-win. After watching a video of Mishimoto's installation, I realized something was wrong. The video skips all the insanely tricky parts and doesn't mention that the end of the front hose is too long to fit in the airbox and the too large OD of the hose has to compete with both the power steering pressure line and the left TGV- engine for space. , nor the fact that the inlet end of the turbine is too long and not centered with the turbine. There are no instructions on their website either. I pulled the IM out, and even with a completely clear passage for the intake pipe, it was still too thick to fit under the IM without much of a struggle. Additional vacuum tubes were also located where OEM parts were present. Unless you're already an expert on vacuum lines, you'll need to spend some time figuring out where they go. As an engineer, I would be embarrassed to be part of a team like Mishimoto that doesn't get the production design right and passes the mistakes and pain on to their customers. I emailed them twice to see if they had an adapter that would connect this intake pipe to my factory intake box and received no replies. I ended up having to cast a platinum cured silicone gasket to allow her intake pipe to fit my airbox. This weekend I'll start pulling out IM (which I just reinstalled today). This time I will install a properly designed intake manifold. Now that I've finally installed the oil separators, I don't have to worry about the intake pipe on the factory turbocharger failing again after 440,000 km. I also seriously doubt that Mishimoto used the correct fluorosilicone for their intake pipe as I don't see any liner in the extra thick pipe wall.
