Great for our 2 and 4 year old grandchildren

We took it on a trip with our grandchildren and they loved it. The screen means we can all see what's under the microscope. The guys found stuff throughout the day and we put it in a bowl to look at later. After dinner and before bed we had microscopy time. They took turns taking things under the microscope and examining them. We bought a couple of slides but they didn't look very good. Lighting from above and lighting slides is not easy. Also, the microscope is about 4x. There is a way to zoom in, but it's all done digitally, so when you zoom in the picture gets really grainy. So it's great to see dead bugs, leaves, candies, rocks, bark, fingers and small toys. If you want to do science, you need something better. Also, it's not strong enough to give to children unsupervised. The handle on the right raises and lowers the stage. The exact same handle on the left fixes the scene. Lowering the platform can cause the left stick to lock up, so be careful. The LCD control buttons are not very intuitive. The light is adjusted using the handle on the side. My point is that there are many ways small, busy hands can crash a device. Our grandchildren are 2.5 and 4.5 years old. I won't let them operate the microscope without me.

Pros
  • Camera and photo
Cons
  • Slightly torn
