Review on Southwire Equipment BMHS6 3 Bi Metal Diameter by Steve French

REQUIRES a two-handed wood drill.

This is a nice, heavy and durable hole saw that will cut through everything from drywall and plastic to wood up to 2 inches thick. If you're going through something thicker than 2 inches, you'll have to step back and use a chisel to remove the plug and then continue drilling. But beware, if it grabs, the momentum and size of the saw will break. drill right out of your hands, especially if you're using a corded drill as they can't handle heavy braking like today's professional cordless machines. So if you've never used one of these before, don't try to cut through wood with a small hand drill! You need a heavy-duty 1/2-inch professional drill with a two-hand grip accessory. When cutting thicker materials such as wood, make sure the drill is up to speed before beginning work. Don't try to move at low speeds, all you have to do is hook in and stop. Speed gives the saw the momentum to cut through whatever you cut. Also let the saw do its job, do not push or force the saw into the material. One thing I wish this saw had was more ventilation. Unfortunately, after making a few holes in the wood, I had to stop and wait for it to cool. It really needs to have more vents and dust extraction holes. Teeth clog and the heat causes sawdust to char and stick. By the way, the lack of adequate ventilation also makes it a bit difficult to remove the wooden plugs. You may need to slide the mandrel back and use this hole to push the plug out. All in all a good saw for the price but I just want a word of warning if you have never used a hole saw this big let someone know. That. Be very careful with this thing when you are standing on a ladder, trust me it will rip the drill out of your hand if you are not careful. Don't try to compare this monster to a small 2" or even 3" hole saw. The smaller ones don't gain momentum and don't have the amount of teeth this monster needs to hook.

Pros

Cons
