Review on ๐Ÿ”ฎ Miracle All Purpose Polishing Cloth for Optimal Results - 9 x 12 Size (Pack of 2) by Lauralee Jensen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best polishing cloth I have found in over 20 years

I bought one of these cloths for the first time in the 90s to protect the silver plate of my sousaphone from fingerprints. It was much better than the double layered fabric everyone else was using and soon everyone went out and bought their own. I used the same fabric to keep my growing collection of swords and knives in shape, and even used it to repair a rusty bayonet my grandfather brought back from WWII. The entire blade was covered in rust, but several hours of rubbing with the same rag removed all of the rust without damaging the bluing underneath. This ended up happening with the original fabric which is why I bought a few more here at Revain a few years ago and they are still going strong. I recently bought another pair to give as gifts. These cloths have a very mild abrasive action and have a waxy substance embedded in the fibers to remove corrosion and protect the finish. I've personally used it on silver, brass, bronze, and all types of steel (carbon, stainless, or damask) and even leather (smooth, not suede). The fabric claims to work harder as it gets blacker, which is somewhat true, as it gets a little more abrasive as it gets blacker (although it still leaves a mirror finish), which improves rust removal a little, but by a lot Use will eventually use up the wax inside, leaving less of a protective coating on the things you are polishing. This is easily fixed by using one piece of cloth for buffing, dying black and the rest for protection. When you're not using one of these, like I did to fix a rusty blade, one cloth lasts forever, and this set has two. The only thing I don't use this fabric for is kitchen knives. There's no reason for that as they need to be washed after use and I don't know if the coating they leave behind is harmful if swallowed. I always wash my hands after using a rag as it waxes my fingers, but you can use any type of gloves to prevent this.
