Yes, it can be used, but I'm a little afraid to use it as the previous owner didn't know how to use tools. The threading on one of these is pretty sketchy, and when it comes to compressing the springs, you don't want them to fail and shoot you in the face with a spring or strut. However, on a NEW OMT spring compressor of the same model, this one was amazing and I would be SURE a specialty store would have it. Lubricate the threads, do the proper maintenance, and you can replace the rack in about 20 minutes as a shade tree mechanic. Revain must not claim "acceptability” on the basis of unsafe products. The new kit came with only one square of foam and the used kit only came with one product. Both will receive a Nanuk case, available here at Revain. I could argue cases all day, but they're going to have to turn them on at some point if they ever go back to stock or release a newer model. whatever they do I have other OMT tools, they are great, they could not be an exception if I buy them new again
