Review on πŸ–ŒοΈ Peel Stop Triple Thick Ponding Primer - 1 qt Zinsser 260925 White Zinsser (Pack of 1) by Terry Wright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Color isn't a miracle, but quite a good color

This paint was used on two fiberglass stem columns installed in 2000 or 2001 and they were chipping. Repeated scraping removed most of the paint, but some remained firmly bound, leaving a defined bulge between the bare column and the painted areas. The grinder shading helped, but it was still very noticeable. Two coats of Peel Stop Triple Thick were applied using a sanding roller, after each coat helped hide the transition between the old paint and the sanded area, as well as some of the nicks left by scraping the old paint off. A white, satin finish top coat is then applied. The color lasts over a year and holds up well. A professional painter will notice the transition from where the old paint remained on the pillar to the bare scraping, but the casual observer probably won't. The triple thickness helped hide the transition line, but not completely. Conclusion: did the color work as advertised? It was pretty good, but didn't quite live up to the advertised requirements. Don't expect miracles and you still need to properly prepare the surface. I would recommend it and buy it again once I know its limitations. Warning: the glass arrived very crumpled. I was surprised it didn't leak. I had a new liter can and poured the paint. This was not a product issue, it was a shipping/handling issue.
