Review on Empava Electric Stove Induction Cooktop - 2 Burners Vitro Ceramic Glass in Black with Smooth Surface - 120V, 12 Inch by Terry Gernes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You get what you pay for.

5 stars because it claims to perform, if I paid what is characteristic of induction it would be 3. For starters - you get what you pay for. This is a cheap induction that works very well. It is slightly smaller than a typical electric stove. So if you have Granite and are switching to it, be prepared to make some upgrades. What I did was install 1/4" flat steel plates on 2 sides of my existing hole and cement them with 4400 psi epoxy. Wouldn't move They told you not to lubricate the unit as it will be removed for maintenance have to but i guess they don't know what a razor is and how easy it is to remove large pot each serpentine is the same size no matter what burner you use which is a little frustrating the only difference between the burners is the power that can be delivered by each. Cast iron is your friend in this case. For example, if you want the entire surface of a 12" cast iron pan to be hot, you need to use the boost for a few minutes and then the Lowering the temperature so the heat spreads throughout the pan This is not normal I have a high end Bertazzoni and each coil is designed for a specific burner Once again you get Si e what you pay for. Not sure if this is normal, but our unit has a slight smell of hot electronics when cooking. Maybe it's because it's been installed for less than 24 hours, but that's enough to make me a little suspicious. I have a fully open closet downstairs and loads of ventilation so I know it has nothing to do with it. If this is your first induction cooktop, brace yourself for a learning curve and a small investment in quality cookware. The following work very well: Cast Iron Fully Coated Carbon Steel The next sucks Cheap metal alloys. Induction cooktops use the same power as traditional electric cooktops, but take much less time to heat up. Something else. Your cooking habits will change. No more starting the pan and then slicing what you're cooking. Now prepare before turning on the pan. therefore, most induction cookers require 20% energy savings. Be prepared for noise. Most induction cooktops (except my Bertazzoni) make a humming/hissing noise when cooking. This comes from the reaction of the metal utensils themselves. Some higher realms have figured out how to minimize this, but this realm isn't trying. You can reduce it yourself by using cast iron. the heavier the better.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No performance
