I was skeptical when I read that such a small filter can do 15 filter steps, but because of the cheap price I thought I'd give it a try. Right out of the box the filter housing looked very thick and strong and that is the only positive thing about this filter. After opening the packaging, I noticed that the contents of the filter were loose in the cartridge. After shining a light in and seeing that the material wasn't filling the cartridge, I opened it up and saw there was a 1/2 inch gap at the top (between stage 2 and 3). You can see the attached pictures for more details. Also, there are a few steps that are incorrectly advertised and a few that are missing. Stagest 1 and 15 are made of plastic mesh, not stainless steel. Levels 3 and 13 do not exist. Levels 6 and 9 (KDF55 and Coconut Charcoal) are so deficient that they should be advertised as "trace amounts". Look again at the attached pictures. I didn't even try to explore the rest of the free content. I'm pretty sure I can eliminate another step or two. Another problem I found with this filter is the lack of a real boundary between the stages. The bowl of this filter was simply fitted loosely into the housing with no discernible screen or batting between stages. Finally, I did not notice any change in water quality after installing this filter. It probably adds some minerals, but I don't think it has filtering properties. I cannot recommend this filter!
