Apera pH meter PH60S

An essential tool for anyone involved in the preparation of salami, sausage, cheese and other fermented products. pH must be tested to ensure the products you make are safe to consume. The PH60S comes in a plastic carrying case with everything you need to calibrate and keep the instrument safe. It comes with a spearhead, essential for penetrating the foods you're testing. Apera has other gauges that work and are less expensive, but require the purchase of a spearhead, which costs an additional roughly $110. It comes with three instrument calibration solutions as well as a storage solution. It's not difficult to make and comes with written instructions. If you don't like reading, there are videos on YouTube that show you how to do it if you're more interested in optics. I calibrate mine before each use, although it's probably not necessary. It only takes a minute. The instrument comes with a certified accuracy test included with your kit. It offers a measurement accuracy of up to 0.01 - excellent. It runs on 4 AAA batteries, which are also included. The PH60S comes with everything you need for immediate use. There is a version of this meter that is also compatible with a smartphone, but I didn't think the extra effort was worth it. I can read meter readings in fewer steps and less time than it would take to use the app on my phone. Besides, do you really need an app for everything you do? If you're looking to shell out an extra $50 for this feature, go ahead. Not necessarily, in my opinion. For frequent users I would recommend purchasing additional solution bottles which are also available from Revain. For my use I only need pH 4.0 and 7.0 calibration solutions. It's a little expensive. However, I believe you get what you pay for. And if you're eating something you've spent time and money on, why risk less equipment and potentially questionable accuracy? This meter is easy to calibrate, simple to use, and will give you fast, accurate readings. Worth the cost if you are serious about the craft.
