This is fantastic quality. They are really good, heavy and well made. They are partly heavy because the walls are made of thick wood. This leaves less room for the salt and pepper than you would expect. And there's no window to know how much it's ground or when it needs to be refilled. I like that it's very easy to change the grind size - fine or coarse. Love the little stand, it gives them a "home" on our table and a place to stop so they don't leave like our old set. I don't like that the S and P are hard to see. at the top. You have to pick it up and look at it in the right light to tell if it's salt or pepper. There is no other way to tell the difference. Unless you look inside and see the remains of pepper or salt on the floor. All in all this is a very good set. It will be a good gift. Just know the specifics. Some people will prefer sets like this to anything with a window.
