Review on DMC Collector's Tin: Explore 🧡 35 Colors Floss for Your Creative Projects by Michelle Langley

More shades of gray and magenta

You will initially receive DMC yarn. The quality of this thread is as high as you would expect from this brand. Very soft fibres, easy to separate strands and same color between purchases. This is the second set of this thread I have bought but the first is from Revain and there is no color difference between them. The most outstanding detail in this set is the color choice. This gives you a little more yellow, green and red in your set, but where it really shines is in the gray and purple. The standard six-strand set has been missing a good selection of purple for a while, and this new set bridges the gap between many shades previously available. The final 13 colors of the set range from a very light pink-purple to a deep orchid hue, although more subtle hues are preferred. The extra grays that are included are on the lighter end of the spectrum, and most of the yellows and greens are pleasing mid-tones. I only have two minor complaints about this set: First, when I buy a set in a collector's tin like this one. , you get a thread that is glued to an acetate sheet. This isn't that big of a problem since filament labels are made of heavy plastic that won't come off. The glue isn't strong, so you won't have a hard time removing the thread from the acetate film. Unless the glue missed the label and the floss itself stuck. That was about half the strands in the case I received. I had to be very careful when pulling the thread off because I didn't want to tear off part of the skein and risk tangling it. One day he caught the end of a skein and pulled out a few strands of six leaving me in a mess that needed untangling. Luckily the thread went straight onto the spools, but that was a waste of time in an already time-consuming process. Second, I worry about the numbers. They are numbered 1-35. If you have other lines of DMC yarn this can hinder your organization as solid colors used to start at 150 and previous numbers were reserved for multi-colored yarns. When the set was first announced I thought the numbers were placeholders and I'm dismayed as to why DMC decided to mess up my stash like this.

This is a nice selection at an excellent price. Other sources were more expensive

The floss is great. Arrived in box but the tin box was bent and could't close.
