Review on 🍷 TenTen Labs Wine Aerator Pourer (2-pack) - High-Quality Decanter Spout - Gift Box Included by Kyle Herrera

More openings = better ventilation

Some full-bodied red wines (such as young Napa Cab) are so tannic and acidic that they are not as pleasant to drink without decanting or aging. But what happens when you decant? Why does it help? It's all about oxygen and evaporation. The longer the exposure to oxygen and air outdoors, the softer the tannins become and the more volatile phenols are released in the wine. In fact, this only applies to tannic and acidic young red wines destined for aging. When you decant or aerate other wines, you can simply rob them of great aroma. Getting back to aeration, the holes in the aerators allow for maximum oxidation and evaporation as the wine is poured through the aerator. The more holes, the more surface area for them and thus more softening of tannins and release of volatile acids. Period. This particular aerator is much better at this than the Rabbit, another (competing) aerator I had on hand. I did a duel: 1 hour decant, Rabbit, TenTen and no decant/aeration. Out of the four, TenTen was much smoother and more enjoyable to drink! Thanks very much! Elissa Owner of WineSkipping.com (virtual wine tasting courses)
