My wife recently had knee surgery so I bought this to help her shower. I saw this one and it matched my color and length. When I received it, it was in a plastic bag with a small packet of hardware (mounting screws, plastic anchors, and a small instruction manual). I took it out of the bag and noticed that the flange covers were fitted over the flanges. I tried moving them to mark the wall where I wanted to install the plank. Flange covers have not been removed. I read the manual to see if it was a trick or a specific method of removing the covers. I found nothing, looked on YouTube and then on the Vive Health website. Finding nothing, I called Vive Health's 800 number. The woman answered and I explained my dilemma. She couldn't offer any suggestions so I asked if I could speak to someone who knew more about her products. She told me that customer service didn't take calls (this was at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak) and that I had to email them my questions. I sent you an email. While waiting for an answer, I tried again to remove the covers. I pushed the covers back as far as I could, holding onto the flanges with my hands. Then I laid the towel on the concrete floor in the basement and then hit the back of the towel flange covers. Both flange covers detached from the flanges. Installed the handle and it works great. But the lids are designed to be permanently locked once snapped into place. That is, in order to remove the railing for painting or wallpapering, you must either bypass the railing or damage the covers, or do some damage to the railing itself and possibly the wall to get at the mounting screws to remove the railing. Company with the suggestion that they have cut outs on the edge of the flange to allow the covers to be removed without damaging the pole or the wall it is mounted to. Hence the 3 star rating.
