I had 10 inside/outside baseboard corners in a small bathroom and some of them were almost vertical so the large corner sensors didn't work. Only a few were 90 degrees and I wanted to adjust my miter saw to fit each one. The disadvantage of short arms is that they are too short for a 7 inch square. I bought a 4 inch square and the combo worked great. You should get used to using the square of velocity since it measures angles relative to the normal. Luckily the miter saws are also normally calibrated so everything works fine.
