We've been using projectors in place of TVs in our home for about 15 years and this is our third. Our Panasonic and Epson projectors have lasted for years, but we've had to change the bulbs several times. The promise of very long lamp life and the good price convinced me to try Optoma. The brightness is excellent, the picture is very good, but there is a potentially serious problem: a flickering stripe, about 100-150 lines high, that periodically appears everywhere. screen in different places. This takes less than a second, but sometimes repeats several times in a row. I have contacted Optoma support through their website and after a delay of over 3 weeks received an email response that a technician will get back to me within 24 hours. When I didn't receive the promised sequel, I called their hotline. The technician was very friendly and made a competent impression. He suggested that the issue is probably related to the HDMI cable and that I could test this by opening the menu when the flickering occurs to see if the flickering is hiding the menu. Since the phenomenon lasts less than a second, I couldn't do it. But I had a different cable. The flickering persists, but due to the delay, the 30-day guarantee has already expired. The picture is very good and the flickering is unnoticeable, the woman didn't even notice until I pointed it out to her, so let's leave this projector as it is. Optoma's warranty now requires us to send it in for repair and we'd be without a video for weeks! If the problem gets worse, we'll just buy another brand.
