I bought a John Deere x300 in late 2010. The start was getting harder and harder. When turning the key, only a click is heard. I checked the battery, the voltage was more than 12 volts, so the problem is not in that. Read the trick to touching the two positive "red" wires on the solenoid while someone is turning the key. If the engine starts, then it's a bad solenoid. That was the deciding factor for me, so I ordered this part. This is an exact OEM match: everything matched perfectly with the two mounting screws. And the new solenoid came with washers and nuts, which came in handy because I lost 2 washers in the grass when removing the old solenoid. Very happy with the replacement. I will do a follow up if I run into any problems later.
