Disappointing Sangean maintenance

Looking forward to the day I accidentally dropped this thing on the floor to replace it with another which I hope will be better pleases. I bought this unit based on my previous great satisfaction with other Sangean radios I have owned over the years. But unfortunately the series is over. The radio function of this clock radio delivers exceptional sound quality. And I like to listen to the radio for a while after I've gone to bed. But what I needed (and thought I'd get) when I bought it was a good CLOCK radio. I chose this one because, among other things, it offers time synchronization with atomic clocks and an analog (as well as digital) clock display. As for timing, who doesn't want a watch that's always accurate and correct? Thus the atomic time synchronization function seemed to be quite an easy task. And the analog clock display is much easier to see for me than the digital one, especially when I'm lying in bed without glasses. Great concepts, both; but in an ironic play on words, something got lost in translation. (More on this below.) Unfortunately, the atomic time synchronization function can be very random. I can run for months without issue, followed by intermittent periods where the time shown is off by three hours or more, the date display is literally different from days, months and years, and analog watches are seriously at odds with digital watches. . I have a clock radio because I have to get to work on time. And unlike my previous non-nuclear but battery-powered clock radio (also a Sangean) that fell off and broke, this one can never really be trusted to do it for me. As for the analog display. black arms supported by a large disc of flashy blue-white light (generally the worst color spectrum for a night's sleep, according to sleep experts), which even in the bottom two shots resembles a billboard in front of a cheap hotel window. A room in a scene from a 1950s film noir. I now cover the set with a towel to hide the miniature spotlight effect my bedroom otherwise creates. As a result, I can't tell the time at all at night unless I pick up my towel (and my retinas burn badly until I'm fully awake - not good at 2:30 in the morning when I'm suddenly wondering if the time is shown on the display). the clock is off again). As for the mention of the lost translation, all the other reviews commenting on the complete gibberish of the instruction manual are a polite understatement, in my opinion. The initial setup of this device is a complex, non-intuitive process and the instructions don't explain how to do it. Completing this process for me was mostly trial and error and it took a VERY LONG time. I regret this purchase. I cannot recommend this clock radio.
