I was very frustrated with this at first as cutting the light strip on the line they tell you is rounder between sets Gold wire makes these connectors flicker and lose connection. I use them around my pool and using corded connectors is not an option although they work better but who wants cords hanging around their pool. SECRET: After having to install more sets of bulbs and dealing with the flashing lights already installed, I concluded that I would have a better connection if I cut before the two sets of conductors and NOT on the line.
