I used to use one of those cheap portable butane torches on eBay but regretted the purchase as it was quite frustrating to use. So I decided to give it a try. The irony is that this one didn't cost much more than the one I bought on eBay which took a long time to ship from China. I have to say that this one works much better. It's very easy to use. There's a lock feature, so you don't even have to hold down the shutter button the entire time. I used it the other day to put the finishing touches on my crème brûlée and it worked really well for that. The only downside is, well it's not exactly a downside but maybe a wish, wish it had more butane in it. There is a string labeled "Max" so you know how much butane to put in. It fills up quickly so it doesn't look like it can hold that much. But it doesn't matter. Charging is very easy (takes seconds).
