Review on 🎨 Strathmore 400 Series Visual Watercolor Journal, 140 LB Cold Press, 5.5"x8", 22 Sheets - White by Carol Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Structured paper for zentang or watercolor, usable on both sides.

This is a heavy weight paper that can be used for zentangle or zentangle with markers or for watercolors. I used both sides for watercolor and used it as a journal for my outdoor sketches and it works very well for that purpose. The paper is lightly textured and holds ink well. I can rub the brush with a small amount of paint and it doesn't spread too much, allowing me to quickly sketch with strokes and more transparent washes. Dries pretty quickly too. I've done a few washes and it hasn't pilled, although I could tell it would start pilling a little on the third wash. However, it's great for quick watercolors considering the cost. This notebook has 22 sheets and is half the size of a regular sheet of stationery, a handy size for making smaller sketches or drawing flowers or small objects. As soon as I got it I did a test with the Koi watercolor set and uploaded this image, for my very first sketch it didn't let me down! Since then I've snapped a few more photos that I've taken. It's a handy size and I like to use the Koi set and a good DaVinci brush I have to create my little watercolors. It's a very compact set and I can do it anywhere while seated as long as I have some water and a paper towel to dry my brush. This little diary is very handy and I love using it. This is my first time getting into watercolor and the compact size of this magazine is more appealing than intimidating!
