The cordless drill does not run long enough and the electric drill has too much power.

I tried this buffer. I used a battery powered drill that ran out quickly. Then I tried my corded drill, it seemed too powerful and could burn through the paint. Then I used the old-fashioned "elbow grease" method. I think you need a drill press so you can control the speed.
