Review on πŸ’» Powerful USB C Docking Station for MacBook and Windows - Triple Displays, 4K HDMI, Multiple USB Ports, Ethernet & Audio Jack by Michael Schafer

Usually works great with my Latitude 5410 and doesn't use DisplayLink for it

I recently got a new work laptop and this is the first laptop I've gotten from the company without a docking station. Since I use it in multiple places around the house, I've added USB-C docking stations (computer is a low-end Dell with no Thunderbolt) throughout the house. This one became my most important one - the one in my office. This decision was made based on its form factor (fits easily anywhere, doesn't tend to move when cables are easily tugged, and has easy access to all ports) and port selection. I'm running a 3440 x 1440 display and a 1024 x 1280 display (via DisplayPort over USB in alternate mode, not DisplayLink), use a USB webcam and separate USB mic, and provide power, input, and ethernet. The laptop only needs one cable for all of this. The title says "works great" as it works great 99% of the time, but every once in a while I seem to lose some aspects of the setup, particularly the ethernet and inputs (the video seems to work fine, as does the power supply ). I can't quite decide on a docking station as I use my own cable and the laptop is not without quirks. I feel better about sharing this information, but I really don't know if the dock is to blame. Overall, I recommend the docking station simply because of the choice of ports and the form factor. A lot of people go for a wide board or a vertical monolith design and I find that works better on my desk.
