Review on πŸ›Ά Versatile and Secure Canoe, SUP, and Kayak Roof Top Mount: AA-Racks Stainless Steel J-Bar Rack with Ratchet Straps and Folding Design for SUV Car Truck by Brant Skogen

Poorly designed and not built to last

Whoever designed this should lose their engineering degree. Here's what you're signing up for: an annoying rig with vague instructions and extra detail, exposed metal studs pointing straight at your paintwork, and a single bar mount held on with just plastic nuts. The steering wheel engages with plastic prongs that don't seem to hold up to repeated use. If any part of this thing fails, you're left with nothing but straps, thoughts, and prayers holding the kayak to the roof of your car. Maybe someone came up with the idea of putting some fail-safe devices in here. You will definitely want to buy extra straps for peace of mind and maybe to secure the nuts. UPDATE: The straps won't come off and your kayak will be held hostage on your car, meaning you can throw it out and leave. at Home Depot to find something with a working release mechanism. BONUS: Untreated screws will rust immediately and rust the paint. This product is garbage.
