Review on 🧼 Aoyue TY-98 Soldering Iron Tip Cleaner with Brass Wire Sponge - Waterless Solution by Matt Kim

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Useful for soldering

I've used wet soldering sponges and they're nowhere near as good as Aoyue brass wire sponges. Wet sponges do several things: cause thermal shock to the tip, reduce tip life, and promote rust. Significantly cool the tip when you wipe it. Tip over a (wet) sponge Solder doesn't stick well to sponges, water and even less so to wet/damp sponges, so you usually have to touch the tip of the solder several times. " to leave a soldering tip like this. It also only takes one stroke. Your tip will still be hot so you can safely proceed to soldering. Not that it's a big deal, but it's annoying if you are soldering plates for a living - every day cleaning is easy too I haven't cleaned mine in 4 months but you don't have to, once you've cleaned it just pull the brass wire ball out of the holder and slap it open the inside of the bins - all the solder falls off!The only negative I can give is that it is made in China. As much as I wish this quality product was made here it is still an amazing product Obviously you are in the market for something like this and if you made it this far in my review do yourself a favor and buy it.

Pros
  • Welding and soldering
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
