Gentle exfoliating bath without water

Brass spiral sponge in a metal cup for easy holding and cleaning. The mug has a carrying handle that rotates from side to side. The handle has a downward curve. With this you can put the soldering iron to rest. The cup also has a downward arc that you can use as well. I didn't check how well the soldering iron lays in the arc because my soldering iron is on end. The sponge cleans the sting quite well. To clean, simply poke the tip a few times with a sponge and you're done. Being brass, this isโ€ฆ

Amazing way to clean and tin soldering tips

I was skeptical about this product but the reviews made me take a chance. I'm a big fan now. Some of the reviewers mentioned this "rubbing" of their hardware. I don't think this is the best way to use this. Striking brass does an amazing job cleaning and tinning my soldering tip. I've used stick on can tips and slotted sponges but no more. This product can do both and even better. I just got it so can't comment on durability but I have no doubt it will last long enough that I forget how longโ€ฆ

Useful for soldering iron

I used wet sponges in soldering and they are not as good as Aoyue brass wire sponge. and promote rust. Cool the tip a lot when rubbing the tip against a (wet) sponge. Solder doesn't stick to sponges, water let alone wet/wet sponges so you usually have to touch the tip of the solder a few times. This brass wire sponge works well because it gives the solder something to "grip" to leave a soldering tip. It also only takes one hit. Its tip is still hot, so you can start soldering without worry. Easily cleans soldering tips with a cloth

I've done without this for years without realizing how much I really need it. This tip cleaner makes it a lot easier to keep your soldering iron or gun clean. Prick and rub the brass sponge each time to give me a clean, shiny tip. I also very quickly poke the tip in a damp sponge to shake off any remaining oxidation. A damp sponge is required in addition to using this brass sponge - check out Pace, Inc.'s excellent soldering tutorial videos on YouTube. The holder measures approximately 3" inโ€ฆ

Useful for soldering

I've used wet soldering sponges and they're nowhere near as good as Aoyue brass wire sponges. Wet sponges do several things: cause thermal shock to the tip, reduce tip life, and promote rust. Significantly cool the tip when you wipe it. Tip over a (wet) sponge Solder doesn't stick well to sponges, water and even less so to wet/damp sponges, so you usually have to touch the tip of the solder several times. Very happy with soldering and soldering accessories

I had a fight between this and the spherical Hakko sponge holder. After using this product I am very happy with my choice. Inserting the iron into the sponge feels very stable, natural and comfortable. Hitting a ball holder from the side seems uncomfortable. Also, this holder has a lower profile (only 1.125 inches tall) so it fits easily in my soldering kit. I often use the built in iron stand when tinning very thin wires (it's easier to put the iron on the floor). and run the wire through theโ€ฆ
