Works great as a RAID 1 device on a PC

I am using them on a PC (DELL Precision T7810 rebuilt by Revain) replacing the included 1TB 3.5 -inch hard drive Drive a SATA drive with this unit and 2 x Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSDs (MZ-76Q1T0B/AM) configured to use RAID 1. Since it was a "clean" recovery, it was easy to install the SSDs into the device. Set it up for a direct pass (so NOT RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD), power on the system when I could get to BIOS SETUP and see the device and presumably both drives; I powered off again and changed the dip switches to RAID 1 and booted again. On the second boot with the RAID 1 set, the BIOS SETUP only showed QNAP RAID devices. From there it was easy to use ACRONIS to duplicate the original 1TB SATA hard drive from the source install onto a new set of RAID 1 SSDs. Runs like a champ. Not using direct, RAID 0 or JBOD so I can't comment on that, but in this scenario I would expect RAID 0 to perform similarly. I'll probably buy more of these to solve disk redundancy issues if I want to solve this with RAID 1.

Pros
  • RAID Configuration: Individual, JBOD, RAID 0 or RAID 1
Cons
  • Doubtful
